Coach Baker
Dennis has been coaching Masters swimming for the last 6 years since his
return to the Great Northwest from Arizona. He has taught thousands of hours of
private lessons for all different levels of swimmers. He is a certified USA
Swimming Coach for the David Douglas Swim Club and will continue with them in a
smaller capacity as his primary responsibilities will be with the newly formed
Oregon Reign Masters. He also coaches the MAC Masters two days a week.
Along with this, Dennis is in pursuit of being the oldest swimmer to qualify for
the USA Olympic Trials. He trains with both David Douglas Swim Club and
Multnomah Athletic Club. Dennis already holds the distinction as the oldest
qualifier ever for the USA National Championships. He primarily competes with
younger USA swimmers in meets throughout the year and in major Master meets
around the country. His stable of current swimmers have many World, National,
Northwest, and State Records and Championships. He has worked with many of the
top Tri/Open water swimmers from all over the country. When asked what his
favorite coaching or swimming accomplishment was in the last few years he
replied, "Teaching the beginning and novice swimmers and seeing them get fit and
move through the water more efficiently. Their transformations in physique and
overall attitude for life is incredible".
